Back to Rare Disease
NCT00004342
NCT00004342
Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- Your blood tests have shown very low levels of infection-fighting white blood cells (called neutrophils) on at least three separate occasions over the past three months.
- If cyclic neutropenia is suspected, there is documented evidence of your white blood cell counts repeatedly dropping and rising in a roughly three-week pattern, ideally recorded over at least six weeks.
- A bone marrow test has been done and the results are consistent with congenital (from birth), cyclic, or idiopathic (cause unknown) neutropenia.
- Your chromosomes appear normal on testing (with a specific exception for certain well-documented cases that have developed into leukemia — confirm with trial site).
- You have a history of repeated infections, such as serious mouth ulcers, gum disease, or sinus infections.
- You are older than three months of age.
- You have been diagnosed with certain specific conditions including Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, glycogen storage disease type 1b, Barth syndrome, or Cohen's syndrome, regardless of exact blood cell counts.
- Your neutrophil levels are moderately low and you have had serious repeated infections affecting deep body tissues such as the lungs or liver.
- You have immune-related neutropenia with a positive antibody test, and also meet certain other criteria listed above (confirm with trial site).
- You were previously enrolled in certain earlier related studies sponsored by Amgen.
Who may not be able to join:
- Your low white blood cell count is known to be caused by a medication you are taking.
- You have been diagnosed with a bone marrow disorder called myelodysplasia.
- You have been diagnosed with leukemia (as a primary condition).
- You have aplastic anemia (where the bone marrow stops making enough blood cells).
- You have a confirmed HIV diagnosis.
- You have a systemic autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.
- Your low white blood cell count was caused by chemotherapy treatment within the last five years.
