Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have received a liver or kidney transplant (placed in the normal position in the body) and started taking a medication called mycophenolate mofetil (as part of your anti-rejection medication plan) within 5 days of your transplant
- Your kidneys are producing at least 500 mL of urine per day, OR your kidney function blood test (creatinine) result is below 2.5 mg/dL
- You are not pregnant
- You test negative for HIV
- You do not have an active infection (confirm with trial site for full definition)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently taking bile acid sequestrant medications (a type of cholesterol or bowel medication)
- You are taking mycophenolate mofetil as a "rescue" treatment (meaning it was added later to save a failing transplant, rather than from the start)
- You are currently receiving albumin replacement therapy (a protein given through a drip)
- You are pregnant
- You have been assessed as unable to make your own medical decisions
- You are currently a prisoner or on parole
- You have an active infection, such as a high fever with an elevated white blood cell count, or repeated positive results from blood, urine, or sputum (mucus) tests showing the same type of infection
