Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are between 18 and 50 years old
• You are overweight or obese, meaning your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 25 or higher
• Your weight has been stable recently (not changing much)
• You do not have diabetes
• You are generally healthy, based on your medical history, a physical check-up, and blood test results

Who may not be able to join:

• You are younger than 18 or older than 50 years old
• You currently smoke, drink a lot of alcohol, or test positive for drugs in a urine test
• You have a history of diabetes, heart disease, blood disorders, breathing problems, gut or digestive conditions, hormone disorders, kidney disease, nervous system disease, psychosis, or any psychiatric condition
• You have had an active cancer diagnosis in the last 5 years
• You are actively trying to lose weight, or your weight has changed by more than 10 kilograms in the past 12 months
• You have taken any medication within one month before the study starts
• You currently have signs of active inflammation, based on your history, physical exam, or blood tests
• You are using hormonal contraceptives (such as the pill), are pregnant, or are breastfeeding
• You have very unusual eating habits or follow a vegan diet
• You have diabetes, confirmed by your history or a sugar (glucose) tolerance test
• You are not able to give informed consent (that is, agree to take part after being fully informed about the study)
