Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You have a clear history of episodes where your heart suddenly starts beating very fast, with a clear start and stop, and these may come with shortness of breath or dizziness
  • Your episodes of fast heartbeat stop on their own before you reach a hospital
  • Your episodes happen less often than once every two weeks
  • Your fast heartbeat episodes have never been recorded on a heart monitoring test (such as an ECG or a heart monitor you wear at home)
  • Your resting ECG (a standard heart electrical test done while you are still) shows normal results

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a medical reason why a small heart monitor cannot be implanted under your skin — for example, you take blood thinners at a level that is too high, or you currently have an infection or fever (confirm with trial site)
  • Your palpitations feel like single missed or "skipped" beats rather than episodes of fast heartbeat
  • You have been diagnosed with, or are suspected to have, a serious heart valve problem or heart muscle disease
  • You have an abnormal sound heard through a stethoscope when a doctor listens to your heart
  • You have any abnormality shown on a standard ECG heart tracing
  • You have an overactive thyroid gland (a condition called thyrotoxicosis)
  • You are unwilling to have the small implantable heart monitor placed under your skin if it is offered to you

Important: Always verify eligibility with the trial site directly before applying.

Based on publicly available eligibility criteria from ClinicalTrials.gov. Verify directly with the trial site before acting. This is not medical advice.
