Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 25 and 35, which means you are considered overweight to obese (your doctor or the trial site can check your BMI for you)
- You are older than 18 years of age (there is no upper age limit)
- You have been assessed by a specialist doctor and are considered safe to enter a hyperbaric chamber (a pressurised medical chamber)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with diabetes at any point in your life
- You have a personal history of major mental health conditions
- You take any prescribed or over-the-counter medications that could affect your blood sugar levels, such as steroids (confirm with trial site)
- You have asthma that is not well controlled
- You currently have a fever or an upper respiratory infection, such as a cold
- You regularly do high-intensity exercise more than twice a week
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant
- You currently drink more than 140 grams of alcohol per week (confirm with trial site for what this means in standard drinks)
- You currently smoke cigarettes, cigars, or marijuana
- You currently use any illegal substances
- You experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces)
- You have donated blood in the past 3 months
