Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a man or woman who is overweight or obese, with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 25.0 and 39.9 (this is a number calculated from your height and weight)
  • You may or may not have type 2 diabetes
  • You are between 30 and 70 years old
  • Your HbA1c (a blood test that shows your average blood sugar level over the past few months) is 7.5% or below

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had a heart attack or stroke in the last 6 months
  • You have kidney problems or liver problems above a certain level, as shown by specific blood test results (confirm with trial site)
  • You have anemia, meaning your hemoglobin (a measure of red blood cells) is below a certain level (confirm with trial site)
  • You currently use insulin or any diabetes medication other than metformin
  • You have taken antibiotics, probiotics, or prebiotic supplements in the past 3 months
  • You regularly do intense physical exercise as part of your normal routine
  • You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
