Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer, confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy) or cell test (cytology)
  • Your cancer is at Stage IC, II, III, or IV (if Stage IC, cancer cells must have been found in fluid, on the ovary's surface, or the capsule broke before surgery)
  • If no biopsy is available, a cell test showing adenocarcinoma may be accepted, provided you have a pelvic mass and meet certain other scan and blood test conditions (confirm with trial site)
  • You had surgery to remove or examine the tumor within the past 8 weeks
  • You are either unable to receive, or do not wish to receive, the standard platinum-taxane combination chemotherapy
  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • Your general health/activity level falls within an acceptable range (ECOG score 0–3, meaning you can at least take care of yourself)
  • Your blood counts are at a healthy enough level (sufficient white blood cells and platelets)
  • Your liver function results are within an acceptable range
  • Your kidneys are working well enough (filtering at least 30 mL per minute)
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and if you could become pregnant, you are willing to use effective contraception

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your tumor is a specific type called a mixed mesodermal tumor, a borderline ovarian tumor, or has been described as "possibly malignant"
  • Your tumor is a mucin-secreting adenocarcinoma of unknown origin
  • You have high blood pressure, heart disease, heart failure, or had a heart attack in the past 6 months
  • You have significant nerve damage or numbness/tingling in your hands or feet (grade 2 or higher)
  • You have an infection that is not under control
  • You have another serious or uncontrolled medical condition
  • You have had another cancer in the past 5 years (exceptions may apply for certain treated skin cancers or cervical carcinoma in situ — confirm with trial site)
  • You have had chemotherapy or radiotherapy before
  • You also have endometrial (womb lining) cancer
  • Your kidney function is borderline (30–45 mL/min) due to a blockage that has not yet been treated
