Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer (confirmed by laboratory testing of tissue) that has come back or gotten worse
- Your cancer continued to return or grow more than 6 months after you finished a chemotherapy treatment that included a platinum-based drug
- You have a measurable area of cancer that can be seen on a scan, such as a CT scan, MRI, chest X-ray, or ultrasound
- If you have had hormone therapy or radiation treatment before, it must have been stopped at least 3 weeks before starting this trial
- Your blood counts must be healthy enough — specifically, your white blood cells and platelets must be at or above certain levels (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently receiving chemotherapy or other cancer-fighting treatments (note: hormone replacement therapy and certain anti-nausea steroids are allowed)
- There is evidence that the cancer has spread to your brain or central nervous system
- You currently have an active infection
- You would not be able to attend all required follow-up appointments for the full length of the study
- You have a second type of cancer, with some limited exceptions such as certain very early-stage skin or cervical cancers (confirm with trial site)
- You have taken part in another clinical trial or used an experimental treatment in the last 3 weeks
- You have other serious health conditions that could interfere with taking part in the study (confirm with trial site)
- You have previously received more than one course of chemotherapy, or have already been treated with a drug called gemcitabine
- Your cancer has been classified as "borderline" rather than fully cancerous
- Your kidneys are not functioning well enough — specifically, your kidney filtering rate must be above a certain level (confirm with trial site)
