Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a man or woman between 40 and 80 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with probable Alzheimer's disease (confirm with trial site for exact diagnostic criteria)
  • You received your Alzheimer's diagnosis within the last 2 years
  • Your Alzheimer's is at a mild or very early stage, based on a standard rating scale called the CDR (with a score of 0.5 or 1.0)
  • You scored between 20 and 28 on a standard memory and thinking test called the Mini Mental State Examination

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a pre-existing condition that has caused structural changes or damage to your brain
  • You have been diagnosed with another neurological condition (such as another brain or nerve disorder) or a psychiatric condition (such as a mental health disorder)
  • You have other health conditions that would make it unsafe for you to have surgery
