Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have agreed to take part willingly and signed a consent form.
  • You have been diagnosed with probable Alzheimer's Disease (AD).
  • If you are female, you have been through menopause for at least 2 years, or have had a surgical procedure that means you cannot become pregnant.
  • If you are male, you have had a surgical procedure for sterilisation, are not sexually active, or use a barrier form of contraception (such as a condom).
  • You have a trusted person (such as a family member or carer) who can support you during the trial.
  • You have had a brain scan (CT or MRI) done within the last 3 years.
  • Apart from your Alzheimer's diagnosis and any stable ongoing health conditions, you are generally in good health based on medical checks, physical examination, and routine tests.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently taking, or have recently taken (within the last 60 days), any medication to treat Alzheimer's or dementia, or are receiving cognitive therapy for these conditions.
  • You use non-prescribed substances or have a history of drug or alcohol misuse or dependence.
  • You have a history of any significant brain or neurological condition other than Alzheimer's Disease.
  • You have previously had a bad reaction or intolerance to a medication called donepezil that caused you to stop taking it.
  • You have taken part in another clinical trial or received an experimental treatment within the last 6 weeks.
