Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for more than six months and are receiving medical treatment for it
  • You score 16 or higher on a depression symptoms questionnaire called the CES-D scale
  • Alternatively, you score 12 or higher on the CES-D scale AND have a history of depression or are currently being treated for depression

Who may not be able to join:

  • Women who currently have a problem with alcohol or drug misuse, or who have a history of bipolar disorder or any other condition involving psychosis (such as hallucinations or delusions)
  • Women who score below 70% on a diabetes knowledge test
  • Women who have serious diabetes-related complications, such as blindness, kidney failure, or the loss of most toes, a foot, or part of a leg
