NCT01324479
Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- There is evidence that a specific protein called c-MET is not working normally in your body (based on lab tests).
- You have been diagnosed with a solid tumor (a type of cancer that forms a lump, rather than blood cancers).
- You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a scan.
- Your cancer has stopped responding to available treatments, or no standard treatments are available for you.
- You are 18 years old or older.
- You are well enough to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (based on a standard doctor's assessment scale).
- You are willing and able to give written consent to take part.
For patients with a specific type of lung cancer (NSCLC) where a gene called EGFR is normal and c-MET levels are high:
- You have written confirmation of this specific type of lung cancer.
- You have written confirmation that your c-MET levels are high.
- You have received no more than three previous cancer treatments for this lung cancer.
- You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a scan.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have liver cancer (HCC) with moderate or severe liver problems (confirm with trial site).
- You have previously been treated with a drug that targets c-MET or a related protein called HGF.
- You have brain or spinal cord tumors that are causing active symptoms and are not stable, or that require increasing doses of steroids to manage.
- You have any ongoing problems affecting your brain or nervous system.
- If you have a type of brain tumor called GBM, you have moderate or severe brain-related symptoms (confirm with trial site).
- You have had serious or uncontrolled heart or blood vessel problems in the last 6 months, or a heart attack in the last 12 months.
- You are taking certain anti-seizure medications that strongly affect how the body breaks down drugs (confirm with trial site).
- If you have GBM, you have previously received or are currently receiving therapy aimed at cutting off blood supply to the tumor.
- You have had radiation therapy within the last 4 weeks (or 12 weeks for GBM patients), or targeted radiation within the last 2 weeks (or 12 weeks for GBM patients), and any side effects from that radiation have not settled down enough.
For patients with the specific lung cancer type (NSCLC, EGFR normal, high c-MET):
- You have received more than three previous cancer treatments for this lung cancer.
- You still have side effects (other than hair loss) from previous cancer treatment or radiotherapy that have not fully resolved.
- You have received certain cancer treatments too recently before starting the trial — the exact waiting period depends on the type of treatment (confirm with trial site).
- You have had major surgery within the last 2 weeks.
