Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a woman between 18 and 40 years old who is able to get pregnant
- You have been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), confirmed by meeting two out of three of the "Rotterdam Criteria" (a standard set of diagnostic checks — confirm with trial site)
- You have been found to have insulin resistance, shown by a specific blood test result called HOMA-IR being above 2.00 (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have been diagnosed with certain hormonal or glandular conditions, such as Cushing's syndrome, a form of adrenal gland disorder, a tumor that produces male hormones, an uncontrolled thyroid condition, or a condition causing high levels of a hormone called prolactin
- You have a serious current health condition that the study doctor believes could affect your safety or the study results, such as diabetes, uncontrolled high blood pressure, other heart or blood vessel diseases, an active infection, or any known cancer
- Your kidneys are not working well, based on a specific blood test result being too high (confirm with trial site)
- Your liver is not working well, based on a specific blood test result being too high (confirm with trial site)
- You are currently using medications or have had surgery specifically to help with weight loss
- You are currently undergoing a procedure called laparoscopic ovarian diathermy (a surgical treatment for PCOS)
- You are currently undergoing IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment
- You have regularly taken any medications that affect how your body handles insulin or that affect your reproductive system (such as your menstrual cycle or ovulation) within the last 3 months
- You have taken part in another clinical trial within the last 30 days
