Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have a solid tumor cancer that has come back in the same area or spread to other parts of the body, confirmed by a tissue or cell test.
• The first 10 spots in the trial are open to any cancer type; after that, preference is given to people with ovarian cancer, breast cancer, or melanoma that has spread; the last 25 spots are reserved for people with melanoma that has spread and cannot be removed by surgery.
• A separate group of 10 people with a specific type of liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma, or HCC) that cannot be removed by surgery may also join, diagnosed by biopsy, imaging, or confirmed spread within blood vessels (confirm with trial site).
• You may have had any number of previous cancer treatments, but your cancer must be stable and not actively getting worse right now.
• You are generally able to carry out basic daily activities (your doctor will assess this using standard scoring tools).
• Your doctor estimates you have more than 6 months to live.
• Your blood counts, liver function, and kidney function are within acceptable levels as measured by blood tests (specific numbers will be checked by the trial team; different limits apply for the liver cancer group).
• If you could become pregnant, or if you are a man who could father a child, you agree to use reliable birth control throughout the trial.
• You are willing and able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
• If you have cancer that has spread to the brain, your symptoms are being managed with standard treatments, and the trial doctor agrees you are suitable to participate.

Who may not be able to join:

• You have had chemotherapy or radiation therapy within the past 4 weeks (or 6 weeks for certain specific drug types), or you are still experiencing side effects from previous treatment.
• You are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving an experimental treatment.
• You have had an allergic reaction to a drug chemically similar to propranolol (the study drug).
• You have high blood pressure that is not currently under control.
• You have an ongoing or active infection, heart failure, unstable chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, or a mental health or personal situation that could make it hard to follow the trial requirements.
• You have significant lung disease, your heart's pumping strength is below 40%, or your resting heart rate is below 60 beats per minute.
• You are currently pregnant, because the study drug could potentially harm an unborn baby.
• You are already taking a beta-blocker medication for another health condition.
• Your blood pressure is at an extreme level (for example, top number above 150 or below 100) and your doctor feels it has not been properly treated.
• You have worsening depression that has not yet been addressed by a doctor.
• You have had a liver transplant (applies to the liver cancer group).
