Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • You must have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, confirmed through tests such as endoscopy, imaging, or lab work, following standard medical guidelines.
  • You must have been diagnosed with an abscess (a pocket of infection) inside your abdomen or pelvis, confirmed by an ultrasound, CT scan, or MRI.
  • You must have either tried corticosteroids and/or immunosuppressant medications without enough improvement, or be unable to take these medications for medical reasons.
  • You must be willing and able to provide written consent to participate.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are under 18 years of age.
  • You are unwilling or unable to provide written consent.
  • Your abscess developed within 12 weeks after having bowel surgery.
  • Your abscess is located only within the wall of the small intestine or colon.
  • You need immediate surgery, for example due to a serious bowel blockage, infection spread throughout the abdomen, or uncontrolled infection in the blood.
  • Your abscess is located in the area around the anus as part of anal Crohn's disease.
  • Your abscess developed while you were already taking anti-TNF medication (a type of immune-suppressing drug).
  • You have previously tried or had a bad reaction to a medication called adalimumab.
  • You have a medical reason why you cannot take anti-TNF therapy (confirm with trial site).
