Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 8 and 21 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease within the last 4 weeks
  • Your Crohn's disease is currently active, based on a standard activity score used for children and young people (confirm with trial site)
  • You are able to give your own consent to participate, or if you are under 18, your parent or guardian is able to give consent on your behalf

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have previously had surgery for Crohn's disease
  • Your Crohn's disease affects the area around the back passage (perianal disease)
  • You have previously been treated with exclusive liquid nutrition (EEN) or a specific carbohydrate diet for Crohn's disease
  • You have previously taken any medications that suppress the immune system, such as steroids, biologics, or certain other Crohn's medications
  • You have previously taken antibiotics specifically to treat your Crohn's disease
  • You have a known allergy to any of the food ingredients in the smoothie used in this trial
  • You have been admitted to hospital because your Crohn's disease symptoms were severe
  • You are unwilling to give consent to take part in the trial
