Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have an advanced or spreading form of one of these cancers: ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer; liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma); non-small cell lung cancer; bladder/urinary tract cancer; or a solid tumour with a specific genetic feature called "microsatellite instability high" (confirm with trial site)
  • Your cancer has shown signs of getting worse, either on a scan or through blood/lab tests
  • You have had a tumour biopsy taken before starting the trial
  • Your cancer can be measured on a scan using a standard method called RECIST v1.1 (confirm with trial site)
  • You are able to move around and carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site)
  • Your doctors expect you to live for at least 6 more months
  • Your blood and other lab test results meet the specific levels required by the trial (confirm with trial site)
  • You have already completed a first course of standard cancer treatment

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had chemotherapy or immunotherapy within the last 28 days before starting the trial
  • You have had radiotherapy within the last 2 weeks before starting the trial
  • You previously received a type of immunotherapy targeting PD-1, PD-L1, PD-L2, or similar immune system proteins, and had to stop because of a serious (Grade 3 or higher) immune-related side effect
  • You have non-small cell lung cancer with specific genetic changes known as EGFR mutations or ALK rearrangements
  • You have previously received a vaccine or immunotherapy that targeted a protein called "survivin"
  • You currently have another active cancer, except for certain non-serious skin cancers, a very early-stage cervical condition, or well-controlled bladder cancer
  • You have a build-up of fluid in your abdomen or around your lungs that cannot be managed with treatment
  • You have a blockage in your bowel, or have had one recently
  • You have ovarian cancer and have at least one tumour larger than 5 cm
  • You have an autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body) that needed treatment in the last two years, not including hormone replacement therapies
  • You have had a recent history of thyroid inflammation (thyroiditis)
  • You have ever had inflammation of the lungs (pneumonitis) that was not caused by infection and needed steroid treatment, or you currently have this condition
  • You have a serious ongoing infection, either sudden or long-term
  • Your cancer has spread to your brain or the lining around it and is currently active
  • You have a stomach or bowel condition that could affect how well you absorb tablets or capsules (confirm with trial site)
  • You have received an organ or tissue transplant from another person
  • You have had a heart attack or stroke within the last 6 months, or have another serious ongoing illness
  • You are currently taking steroid medicines or other drugs that suppress your immune system
  • You have recently received a live vaccine (a vaccine containing a weakened live virus or bacteria)
  • You have an active skin condition or problems with small blood vessels (confirm with trial site)
  • You have significant swelling (oedema or lymphoedema) in your legs, rated above Grade 2 in severity (confirm with trial site)
  • You have had a severe allergic reaction (Grade 3 or higher) to the drug pembrolizumab
