Who might be able to join this trial:

• Children aged 6 to 18 years who are suspected of having Crohn's disease (CD) and have not yet started any medical or nutritional treatment
• Children aged 6 to 18 years who have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease through a camera procedure (endoscopy) and have not yet started any medical or nutritional treatment
• Children aged 6 to 18 years having a bowel camera procedure (colonoscopy) for general stomach pain or a non-inflammatory gut condition (as a comparison group)
• Healthy children aged 6 to 18 years with no gut disease symptoms or known medical conditions, recruited from routine check-up clinics, orthopaedic clinics, eye clinics, or schools (as a comparison group)

Who may not be able to join:

• Children who are currently taking any regular medication, or who have taken antibiotics, probiotics, or acid-reducing medications (proton pump inhibitors) in the last 30 days
• Children with severe obesity (body weight above the 95th percentile for their age and gender)
• Children who are following a special diet, seeing a dietitian, or already taking part in another research study
• Children who have been using steroids or immune-suppressing medications before their Crohn's disease diagnosis
• Children who have another long-term illness (such as HIV, a hormonal condition, cancer, a neurological or psychiatric condition, a blood clotting disorder, coeliac disease, or another chronic gut condition)
• Children who have had any surgery on their digestive system, including weight-loss surgery
• Children or their immediate family who are unable to use a smartphone app as part of the study
