Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have had COVID-19 that was confirmed by a PCR test, a rapid antigen test, or diagnosed according to official guidelines at the time you are screened for the trial
- You are still experiencing ongoing symptoms affecting your nervous system as a result of COVID-19, such as problems with memory, concentration, sleep, or fatigue (as identified through a symptom checklist), or you have lost your sense of smell
- You are able to fully take part in all parts of the trial, including memory and thinking tests
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form to join the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- You have signs of dementia or significant memory and thinking problems identified during the screening process
- You have a serious medical or mental health condition that would prevent you from taking part
- You have had a head injury with loss of consciousness for more than 30 minutes within the last 2 years
- You are currently taking a statin medication long-term for a specific medical reason, or you have a medical reason why you cannot take statins (confirm with trial site)
- You have serious liver disease or poor kidney function, or certain abnormal results in your blood tests related to liver health (confirm with trial site)
- You have a specific muscle-related marker in your blood (creatine kinase) that is more than twice the normal upper limit (confirm with trial site)
- You are a woman who could become pregnant and are unwilling or unable to use a reliable form of contraception, or you are currently breastfeeding, or you are planning a pregnancy
- You are unable to have an MRI scan — for example, because you have metal implants in your body or because you experience severe claustrophobia (this applies only to a smaller group of participants who would have an MRI as part of the trial)
- Your doctor feels that taking part in the trial could put you at significant risk based on your medical history
