NCT05056077
Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
For cancer survivors:
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- You have been diagnosed with bladder, breast, colon, endometrial, kidney (renal cell carcinoma), ovarian, prostate, or rectal cancer.
- You have finished all chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or radiation treatment before joining (hormone treatments are still allowed).
- You own a smartphone with internet access that can receive daily text messages.
- You are able to speak and read English or Spanish.
- You have a support person (such as a family member or friend) who is 18 or older, speaks English or Spanish, and is willing to support you throughout the study.
- It has been at least 4 weeks since any major surgery before starting the programme (note: having a port or catheter removed does not count as major surgery, but a reversal of an ostomy does).
- You are considered safe to do home-based exercise based on a standard readiness questionnaire (if there are any concerns, your doctor may need to confirm it is safe for you to exercise).
For support persons:
- You have been chosen by a cancer survivor who is taking part in the study to be their support person.
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- You are able to speak and read English or Spanish.
- You are willing to complete two online surveys and four one-on-one health coaching calls over the 48-week study.
Who may not be able to join:
For cancer survivors:
- You have health reasons that make home-based exercise unsafe, and a doctor's approval cannot be obtained.
- You are already closely following healthy diet and exercise guidelines at the time of joining, based on a short screening survey about your eating habits and physical activity (confirm with trial site).
- You have used both a physical activity tracker and a diet tracking app for at least one week in the past three months.
- You are planning to have major surgery during the study period (having a port or catheter removed or minor skin procedures are exceptions).
- You are scheduled to receive any cancer treatment during the study, apart from hormone treatments.
- You have a serious heart, lung, or joint condition that prevents you from doing moderate physical activity — for example, unstable chest pain, a recent heart attack, needing oxygen, or needing a joint replacement very soon (moderate arthritis that still allows activity is not a reason to be excluded).
- You have a psychiatric or mental health condition that would prevent you from taking part or from giving informed consent — for example, untreated severe depression, psychosis, or substance misuse.
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial focused on weight loss, physical activity, or diet (taking part in certain other types of trials or doing your own personal health programmes outside of a trial is generally allowed — confirm with trial site).
- You are currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study.
- You live outside the United States during the screening process or the 48-week study period.
For support persons:
- There are no exclusion criteria listed for support persons.
