Who may be able to join
"Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be female and have recently been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) using a specific set of medical guidelines called the Rotterdam criteria.
- You must be between 11 and 19 years old (adolescent group) or between 20 and 40 years old (adult group).
- You must have more than 16 natural teeth.
Who may not be able to join:
- You may not be able to join if you have a history of thyroid problems, high levels of a hormone called prolactin, or tumors that produce male hormones.
- You may not be able to join if you have a long-term inflammatory illness such as kidney disease, serious heart disease, type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or if you have had cancer in the past 5 years.
- You may not be able to join if you currently use or have a history of using tobacco or alcohol.
- You may not be able to join if you have taken antibiotics in the past 3 months.
- You may not be able to join if you have had any dental or gum treatment in the past 6 months.
- You may not be able to join if you have been diagnosed with a severe form of gum disease called aggressive periodontitis (confirm with trial site).
- You may not be able to join if you are currently taking birth control pills, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
