Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Your BMI (body mass index) is over 25 and under 45 (confirm with trial site, as the upper limit may contain a typo in the original criteria)
  • You are between 18 and 45 years old
  • You have at least two of the following: irregular or infrequent periods; excess body or facial hair, or higher than normal male hormone levels; or cysts on the ovaries seen on an internal ultrasound
  • Other conditions that could explain your symptoms have been ruled out by a doctor

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have gone through menopause
  • You have diabetes
  • You have or have had an eating disorder
  • You have a psychiatric (mental health) disorder
  • You are currently taking the contraceptive pill or a medication called metformin
  • You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the treatment period
  • You are not of Caucasian (white European) ethnic background
  • You have epilepsy
  • You are allergic to the medication being used in the trial
