Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer (such as ovarian, cervical, or uterine cancer) that has been confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy), either newly diagnosed or returned after at least 6 months without chemotherapy or radiation treatment
  • You are between 20 and 75 years old
  • You are generally able to care for yourself and carry out daily activities (your doctor rates your physical functioning as good to moderate)
  • You are planned to receive at least two rounds of a specific chemotherapy combination — paclitaxel and carboplatin — given every 3 weeks
  • Your liver and kidney function test results are within acceptable ranges (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have already received chemotherapy, radiation, or targeted therapy for your current recurrence of cancer
  • You have cancer that has spread to the brain, or you have a history of brain tumors
  • You have a history of stomach or bowel cancer, or have had major surgery on your digestive system (minor procedures like removal of polyps or the appendix may be acceptable)
  • You have a partial blockage in your bowel
  • You have problems with your balance or inner ear (vestibular dysfunction)
  • You have a large build-up of fluid in your abdomen that has not been drained
  • You are currently taking opioid pain medications (such as morphine or oxycodone)
  • You have diabetes mellitus
