Generalized convulsive status epilepticus
Initial treatment
Patient must have been assessed to be at significant risk of status epilepticus; AND
Patient must have experienced at least one prolonged seizure (greater than 5 minutes duration) requiring emergency medical attention within the previous 5 years; AND
Patient must be at least six months of age; AND
The treatment must be initiated by a specialist physician experienced in the treatment of epilepsy.

At the time of the authority application, medical practitioners should request the appropriate quantity to cater for the patient's circumstances.
Up to a maximum of 10 syringes for each prescription can be authorised for patients with high frequency seizures.
