- People who have been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus or stomach, and/or a condition called GERD (acid reflux disease) with or without Barrett's esophagus (a change in the lining of the food pipe often linked to long-term acid reflux), and who are already scheduled to have surgery and/or a camera examination of the digestive tract (called an endoscopy) as part of their usual medical care.
