Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are willing and able to give informed consent to take part in the study
- People who have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, or Type 2 diabetes that was diagnosed more than 6 months ago
- People of any gender (male or female)
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old (inclusive)
- People with a BMI (body mass index) of 45 or below
- People who have no known sleep disorders, or whose only known sleep disorder is Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA — a condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep)
- People who are managing their diabetes through glucose-lowering medication or lifestyle changes (such as diet and exercise)
- People who have a good command of the English language
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unwilling or unable to give informed consent
- People who do not have a good command of the English language
- People under 18 or over 75 years of age
- People with a BMI above 45
- People who use cannabis regularly (defined as weekly use)
- People who have a terminal illness
- People who have a known sleep disorder other than Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
- People who regularly use (weekly) any of the following medications: wakefulness-promoting medicines (such as Modafinil, Amphetamine derivatives, or Methylphenidate); sedatives (including benzodiazepines or "Z-drugs" such as zopiclone, zolpidem, and zaleplon); melatonin products (including Circadin or melatonin analogues); or Clonazepam and other medicines taken for nocturnal movement disorders
