- People whose heart failure is caused by a serious widespread infection (sepsis)
- People currently experiencing acute reduced blood flow to the heart, for example through chest pain (angina) or abnormal heart readings during exercise
- People who have had an acute coronary event (such as a heart attack) within the past 3 months
- People who were hospitalised in the past month for heart failure and required intravenous medications to remove fluid or support heart function
- People who have a mechanical replacement valve in the aortic or tricuspid position of the heart
- People who have previously had a heart transplant
- People who currently have acute liver or kidney failure
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are residing in an institution under an official or court-ordered arrangement
- People who have an employment or dependent relationship with the organisation running or auditing the trial
- People who have taken part in another clinical drug trial within the 30 days before this study begins
