Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 60 years old, of any gender, with a body mass index (BMI) between 19 and 25 (a measure of body weight relative to height).
- People diagnosed with liver scarring (cirrhosis) caused by hepatitis B, with liver function rated as Child-Pugh B or Child-Pugh C with a score between 7 and 12, and a disease severity score (called MELD score) of 21 or below (confirm with trial site for exact scoring details).
- People who have not received stem cell therapy in the past 6 months.
- People who are able and willing to sign a consent form agreeing to follow the study procedures.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose heart, kidneys, or lungs are not functioning well enough.
- People whose cirrhosis has reached a very advanced stage with serious complications, such as brain problems caused by liver failure, bleeding in the digestive system, a serious inability to stop bleeding, or a large build-up of fluid in the abdomen.
- People who currently have an uncontrolled infection, such as an infection of the abdominal lining, lungs, or elsewhere in the body.
- People who have a history of severe allergic reactions, or allergies to two or more foods or medicines.
- People who test positive for HIV or syphilis.
- People with a significantly raised level of a protein called alpha-fetoprotein (above 400 ng/mL), which may be linked to a type of liver cancer (confirm with trial site).
- People whose liver scarring is caused by something other than chronic hepatitis B infection.
- People living with severe mental illness or significant difficulties with thinking and memory.
