Who might be able to join this trial:
Group 1 (Status Epilepticus):
- You are 2 years old or older and are experiencing a prolonged or repeated seizure episode (known as status epilepticus)
- You are covered by the French social security system (excluding the AME state medical assistance program)
- You, or a family member on your behalf, have agreed and given written consent to take part
- People under legal protection (such as guardianship) are also eligible to apply
Group 2 (Epilepsy linked to immune-related brain inflammation):
- You are 2 years old or older and have seizure symptoms linked to a condition where the immune system attacks the brain (dysimmune encephalitis)
- You are covered by the French social security system (excluding the AME state medical assistance program)
- You, or a family member on your behalf, have agreed and given written consent to take part
- People under legal protection (such as guardianship) are also eligible to apply
Group 3 (General epilepsy):
- You are 18 years old or older and have epilepsy, but do not have prolonged seizure episodes or immune-related brain inflammation
- You are covered by the French social security system (excluding the AME state medical assistance program)
- You, or a family member on your behalf, have agreed and given written consent to take part
- People under legal protection (such as guardianship) are also eligible to apply
Who may not be able to join:
Group 1:
- Women who are pregnant or where pregnancy has been detected
- Anyone who is currently detained or imprisoned
- Anyone diagnosed with a known degenerative brain or nervous system disease
Group 2:
- Women who are pregnant or where pregnancy has been detected
- Anyone who is currently detained or imprisoned
- Anyone who has already received treatment with corticosteroids (steroid medicines) or intravenous immunoglobulins (a treatment using antibodies given through a drip)
Group 3:
- Women who are pregnant or where pregnancy has been detected
- Anyone who is currently detained or imprisoned
- Anyone currently experiencing prolonged or repeated seizure episodes (status epilepticus)
- Anyone with a known degenerative brain disease, brain tumour, severe head injury, meningitis, bleeding around the brain, or stroke
