Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have at least one of the following blood sugar concerns: high HbA1c levels, impaired fasting glucose, or impaired glucose tolerance — or who have already been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes
- People who are able to communicate in English
- People who are 18 years of age or older
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who are unable to give informed consent to participate
- People who currently have a cancer diagnosis
- People who have previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
- People who have previously been diagnosed with a neurological or neurodegenerative condition (such as a disease affecting the brain or nervous system)
- People who currently have, or who within the last 5 years have been diagnosed with, a substance use disorder (not including nicotine)
- People who score poorly on a short memory and thinking assessment called the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE)
- For the optional brain imaging part of the study: people for whom an MRI scan would not be medically safe, based on the trial site's safety guidelines
- For the optional brain imaging part of the study involving a breathing procedure: people who use medical equipment that would interfere with wearing a face mask, or people who have a significant lung condition such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, COPD, pulmonary vascular disease, pleural disorders, or pneumonia
- For the optional sleep monitoring part of the study: people who use medical equipment (such as oxygen therapy via nasal prongs) that would interfere with portable sleep monitoring equipment, or people who have a condition such as moderate-to-severe lung disease or heart failure that may affect the accuracy of sleep test results
