Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are already scheduled to have an upper digestive tract camera examination (endoscopy) that includes taking small tissue samples from the stomach
- People who have a known stomach condition (such as autoimmune gastritis) or a condition that may increase the risk of stomach cancer and are already being monitored for it (such as atrophic gastritis)
- People who are older than 45 years of age
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had part or all of their stomach surgically removed in the past
- People who have previously had a procedure to remove a cancerous or pre-cancerous growth from the stomach using an endoscope
- People who have a history of abnormal stomach cell changes (dysplasia), even if no visible lesion was found at the time
- People who have an inherited condition that raises the risk of stomach cancer, such as familial adenomatous polyposis or Lynch syndrome
- People with serious other health conditions that significantly affect their overall health (confirm with trial site)
- People who take blood-thinning medications (anticoagulants)
