Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) based on recognised medical guidelines
- You are 18 years old or older
- Your PBC is at stage 2 or 3, meaning your liver function tests are abnormal and you are experiencing symptoms
- After 6 to 12 months of treatment with a medication called UDCA, certain liver test results (ALP and AST) have improved to near-normal levels and your bilirubin level is normal
- You are willing and able to give your informed consent to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have another liver condition at the same time, such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or alcohol-related liver disease, or certain liver enzyme levels (ALT or AST) are more than twice the normal range
- Your liver is no longer functioning well enough to keep you stable (known as decompensated liver disease, classified as Child grade B or C) (confirm with trial site)
- You have a serious problem with another major organ (such as kidney failure), a significant infection, or other serious health complications
- You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding, or you have a psychiatric condition
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial, or you have taken part in one within the last three months
