Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 75 years old
- Your tumor is located in the middle or upper part of the stomach, and doctors expect it can be fully removed with a type of surgery called total gastrectomy with removal of nearby lymph nodes
- Your stomach cancer has been confirmed by a lab test (biopsy) to be a type called adenocarcinoma (including several subtypes such as signet ring cell carcinoma)
- Your cancer stage is within a specific range (T2–4a, N0–3, M0 according to a standard staging system — confirm details with trial site)
- Your doctors expect you to live longer than 6 months
- Your cancer has not spread to a specific area where the stomach meets the food pipe (the Z-line)
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is below 30
- You have not had previous surgery on the upper abdomen, except for keyhole surgery to remove the gallbladder
- You have not previously received chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy
- Your general fitness level is good or only mildly limited (as assessed by your doctor)
- You are considered fit enough for anaesthesia by standard medical assessment
- Your liver, kidneys, and other organs are working well enough
- You are willing and able to give written consent to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- Scans show that nearby lymph nodes have merged together and are very enlarged (3 cm or more), or lymph nodes near the spleen are enlarged
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have had another cancer either at the same time or within the past 5 years
- You have a fever of 38°C or higher before surgery, or have an infection that requires treatment throughout the body
- You have a serious mental health condition
- You have a serious lung condition where breathing tests show significantly reduced lung function
- You have serious liver or kidney problems
- You have unstable chest pain (angina) or have had a heart attack within the past 6 months
- You have had a stroke or brain bleed within the past 6 months
- You have been taking steroid tablets or injections continuously for the past month (skin creams or similar do not count)
- Your stomach cancer has caused a complication such as bleeding, a tear, or blockage that needs emergency surgery
- You are currently taking part in, or have taken part in, another clinical trial within the past 6 months
