Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with stomach cancer or cancer at the junction of the stomach and oesophagus, confirmed by a tissue or cell sample, and who have had surgery to remove the cancer (a D1 beta or D2 resection)
• People whose cancer has been confirmed by pathology as stage II or stage III (based on the AJCC 8th edition staging system)
• People aged 19 years or older
• People with a general health/activity level rated as 0 or 2 on the ECOG scale, meaning they are either fully active or able to carry out self-care but unable to do active work (confirm with trial site)
• People whose bone marrow is functioning well enough, based on blood test results showing adequate levels of white blood cells, platelets, and haemoglobin — people with long-term anaemia who need occasional blood transfusions may also be considered
• People whose kidneys are functioning adequately, based on a blood test for creatinine
• People whose liver is functioning adequately, based on blood tests for bilirubin and liver enzymes
• People who are willing and able to provide written informed consent to participate

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People who test positive for pregnancy at the start of the trial (women who have not had a period for at least 12 months may be considered post-menopausal)
• Sexually active people who are not willing to use contraception during the trial and for 3 months after stopping the study drug
• People who have evidence that the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, including confirmed fluid build-up in the abdomen containing cancer cells
• People who have already had chemotherapy or radiation treatment for their stomach cancer
• People who have not yet recovered from serious complications following their stomach surgery
• People who have had another cancer within the last 3 years (exceptions may include certain treated skin cancers, cervical cancer in situ, or non-spreading thyroid cancer)
• People with a history of significant uncontrolled seizures, nervous system disorders, or mental health conditions that could affect their ability to understand consent or follow the oral medication schedule
• People with significant active heart problems, such as unstable chest pain, symptomatic coronary artery disease, heart failure rated grade II or higher, severe irregular heartbeats, or a heart attack or acute coronary event in the past 6 months
• People with conditions affecting the upper digestive tract that are likely to interfere with absorbing the study drug
• People with a serious uncontrolled infection or other serious uncontrolled medical condition
• People who have had an organ or tissue transplant requiring ongoing anti-rejection medication
• People who have taken part in another clinical trial or received an experimental treatment within 4 weeks before joining this trial
• People with an active hepatitis B or C infection (people who carry hepatitis B may be considered if their virus levels are below a certain threshold and they are able to take preventive antiviral medication)
• People with an active HIV infection
• People who have nerve damage in their hands or feet that is affecting their daily functioning
