Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have been diagnosed with stomach cancer (specifically a type called adenocarcinoma) in the upper, middle, or lower part of the stomach, confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy) before surgery
- People whose cancer is at an advanced local stage but has not spread to distant parts of the body, and where surgery to remove part or all of the stomach is considered safely possible using keyhole (laparoscopic or robotic) techniques

- People who have given written agreement to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had previous surgery on the upper abdomen (though prior keyhole gallbladder removal is generally permitted — confirm with trial site)
- People who have previously had part or all of the stomach removed, or certain previous stomach procedures performed through an endoscope
- People with a known allergy to iodine-based agents
- People whose cancer is located at the junction between the food pipe (oesophagus) and the stomach
- People for whom surgeons plan a type of operation involving the chest, an extended removal of the stomach from below the diaphragm, or removal of only the upper portion of the stomach
- People who have received chemotherapy before this trial (except standard chemotherapy given as part of treatment for this stomach cancer), or previous radiotherapy to the area
