Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have agreed to take part and given your consent to join the study
- You are between 18 and 75 years old
- Your level of consciousness after the injury was measured at a certain score (between 6 and 12 on a standard scale used in hospitals), or if your score was lower (between 3 and 5), it was because you were given sedation at the accident scene and your score before that was between 6 and 15 (confirm with trial site)
- You have been diagnosed with a moderate or severe brain injury caused by a recent trauma (such as an accident)
- You are any gender
- Your brain scan (CT scan) shows signs of bleeding or bruising inside the brain
- You are able to receive the first dose of the study treatment within 18 hours of your brain injury
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously taken a medication called biperiden
- You have a confirmed history of epilepsy
- You have a history of seizures or are currently taking anti-seizure medication
- You are pregnant
- You are already taking part in another clinical trial
- You have a history of cancer, a neurodegenerative disease (such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer's), stroke, memory or thinking problems, an enlarged prostate, certain heart rhythm problems, glaucoma, or a blockage in the large intestine
- You are currently experiencing homelessness
