Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who are willing and able to sign and date a consent form agreeing to take part
- People who have difficulty with memory or thinking are not automatically excluded from this trial
- People who have been diagnosed with drug-resistant epilepsy, meaning at least two different seizure medications have been tried and did not work well enough
- People whose brain wave test (EEG) shows a pattern consistent with focal or generalised epilepsy
- People who have more than 4 seizures per month (of certain types, including focal aware, focal impaired awareness, or tonic-clonic seizures)
- People who are currently taking one or more seizure medications at a stable dose for at least 12 weeks before starting the trial
- People who use an implanted seizure device (such as a vagal nerve stimulator, deep brain stimulator, or responsive nerve stimulator), provided the device settings have been stable for at least 4 weeks before the screening visit and no adjustments are made during the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who are currently breastfeeding
- People who have had more than 21 consecutive days without a seizure at any point in the last year
- People who have had a prolonged or severe seizure episode (status epilepticus) within the 3 months before screening
- People with a history of alcohol or drug misuse within the last 2 years
- People with an unstable medical condition
- People currently considered to be at serious or imminent risk of harming themselves or others
- People with heart or cardiovascular disease
- People with a diagnosis of schizophrenia
- People with a history of a brain aneurysm, aortic dissection, abnormal blood vessel formation in the brain (arteriovenous malformation), or bleeding in the brain
- People who are unable to move independently, such as those who are wheelchair-bound or bedridden
- People currently taking stimulant medications (such as amphetamines or methylphenidate) or a class of medications called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (such as selegiline, isocarboxazid, or phenelzine)
