Who might be able to join this trial:

• Children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) based on a recognised assessment tool, a standard diagnostic guide (DSM-5), and evaluation by a specialist on the study team
• Children who show delays in communication, specifically scoring below a certain level on tests measuring how they express themselves or understand language
• Children who score above a certain level on tests of non-verbal thinking and fine motor skills (such as visual problem-solving and hand movements)
• Children who were born between 36 and 42 weeks of pregnancy (not significantly premature)
• Children who were born weighing more than 2,500 grams (about 5.5 pounds)
• Children who do not have an identified neurological condition (such as epilepsy), a genetic condition (such as Down syndrome, Fragile X, tuberous sclerosis, or neurofibromatosis), or a severe physical condition affecting movement (such as cerebral palsy)
• Children who are able to walk on their own without assistance
• Children whose parents or carers can confirm, through an eligibility interview, that the child produces at least three different types of intentional communication acts per day — such as making eye contact, using gestures, or vocalising with purpose

Who may not be able to join:

• Children whose primary language spoken at home is not English
• Families who live more than 40 miles away from a Kennedy Krieger Institute CASSI trial site
• Children who are currently living in foster care
