Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been clinically diagnosed with epilepsy that has not responded to treatment, and who have been assessed as suitable for a brain monitoring procedure called stereoelectroencephalography (sEEG), where small electrodes are placed in the brain to record activity (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with severe psychiatric (mental health) conditions
  • People who experience severe agitation or extreme distress during their seizures
  • People who cannot have an MRI scan — for example, due to claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), or because they have a heart or nerve stimulator, certain types of surgical clips in the brain or blood vessels, a cochlear (hearing) implant, or any metal fragments in the eye or nervous system
  • People who cannot undergo the brain electrode procedure — for example, those with an active infection, serious heart, lung, kidney, or liver disease, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who are currently taking blood-thinning medication (such as medication to prevent blood clots)
