Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 65 years old
- People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form
- People who are currently living in Belgium
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have followed a diet in the 8 weeks before joining the trial
- People who have a known or suspected eating disorder
- People who have a major psychiatric (mental health) condition
- People who have a known gut or digestive disease (note: irritable bowel syndrome is allowed)
- People who have had any form of cancer in the past 3 years (note: a specific type of minor skin cancer called basocellular carcinoma is allowed)
- People who have received chemotherapy in the past 6 months
- People who have had a stomach or gut infection in the past 6 months, meaning an illness lasting 2 or more days in a row with symptoms such as fever, vomiting, sudden diarrhoea, or hospitalisation (confirm with trial site)
- People who have had previous abdominal (stomach area) surgery, except for appendix removal or gallbladder removal, which are allowed
- People who drink more than 14 units of alcohol per week
- People who use illegal drugs
- People who take medications known to have significant effects on the digestive system (confirm with trial site)
- People who have recently started taking nerve-affecting medications (sometimes called neuromodulators) less than 3 months before joining — these medications are allowed if the dose has been stable for at least 3 months
- People who are pregnant
