Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have stomach cancer that can be removed by surgery, and a keyhole (laparoscopy) procedure has confirmed that either cancer cells are present in the fluid around your abdomen, or the cancer has spread slightly into the abdominal lining but only to a limited degree (a spread score of 6 or less)
- You have read and signed a form agreeing to take part in the trial
- You are generally well enough to carry out light daily activities — you may not be fully active but you are not bedridden (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- The cancer has spread to areas outside the abdominal lining (for example, to the lungs or liver)
- The cancer has spread more extensively across the abdominal lining (a spread score above 6)
- The tumour is located where the food pipe meets the stomach in a way that is considered more related to the food pipe than the stomach (confirm with trial site)
- You have had a serious allergic reaction to the chemotherapy drugs cisplatin or doxorubicin in the past
- The tumour is causing bleeding or a blockage that requires urgent surgery to relieve symptoms
- You have a very severe overall physical condition that makes surgery very high risk (confirm with trial site)
- Your tumour tests positive for certain biological markers (EBV, MSI, or HER2) on biopsy samples (confirm with trial site)
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- You have a medical reason that prevents you from safely receiving any of the chemotherapy drugs used in this trial
- Your liver is not working well enough, based on specific blood test results being too high
- You have had a stroke in the last 6 months
- You have had a heart attack in the last 6 months
- You have moderate or severe heart failure
- Your white blood cell count is too low, based on a blood test
- Your platelet count (cells that help blood clot) is too low, based on a blood test
- You currently have an active hepatitis B or C infection
- You have HIV infection
- Your kidneys are not filtering your blood well enough, based on a specific measurement of kidney function
