Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have type 1 diabetes
  • People who have serious diabetes-related complications such as diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar state, or lactic acidosis
  • People who have a known allergy to the study drug
  • People with abnormal liver or kidney function test results, as defined by specific laboratory thresholds (confirm with trial site)
  • People who have another serious illness affecting major organs
  • People who have had a heart attack, unstable chest pain, stroke, mini-stroke, or serious heart failure requiring hospitalisation within the past 6 months
  • People who have certain heart rhythm problems, specifically Mobitz Type II second- or third-degree heart block, or sick sinus syndrome, unless a pacemaker has been fitted (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose baseline heart rhythm measurement (QT interval) is above a certain length — above 450ms for males or above 460ms for females (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are currently taking certain heart rhythm medications known as Class IA or Class III antiarrhythmic drugs
  • People who currently have a systemic infection of any kind, including bacterial, fungal, or viral infections
  • People who have participated in another clinical trial within the past 3 months
  • People whom the trial investigators consider unsuitable for any other reason
