Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women with epilepsy between the ages of 18 and 45 who are either planning to become pregnant or are in the very early stages of pregnancy (early first trimester)
- Women with epilepsy who are able to keep a daily medical diary
- Women with epilepsy who are able to fill out questionnaires about side effects
- Women with epilepsy who are currently being treated with one of these three seizure medications: lamotrigine, levetiracetam, or oxcarbazepine
Who may not be able to join:
- Women with epilepsy who have a history of functional seizures (seizures that are not caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain — confirm with trial site if unsure)
- Women with epilepsy who have a history of other serious medical conditions, including kidney disease, liver disease, or a brain condition that is getting worse over time
- Women with epilepsy who are not able to keep a daily diary recording their seizures and medications
- Women with epilepsy who currently use, or have recently used, alcohol or drugs in a problematic way, or who take other medications that are known to interact with their current seizure medication
