Who might be able to join this trial:

  • The cancer has been confirmed through a tissue sample (biopsy) as a specific type of stomach cancer (gastric adenocarcinoma) located in the upper or middle part of the stomach
  • Age is between 20 and 80 years old
  • The person is generally well enough to carry out daily activities with little to no limitation (as rated by a standard medical scale called ECOG, scored 0 or 1)
  • The cancer is at an early to intermediate stage (Stage I–III), with no distant spread, as determined by stomach camera examination and abdominal scan
  • Surgery to remove the entire stomach along with nearby lymph nodes is planned, and full removal of the cancer is considered achievable
  • Written consent to participate in the trial has been provided
  • No chemotherapy or radiotherapy has been received before surgery

Who may not be able to join:

  • The cancer has spread extensively to many lymph nodes, or has grown into nearby structures beyond the stomach wall, based on standard staging assessment
  • A previous history of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy
  • Lymph nodes near the stomach are larger than 3 cm
  • Previous stomach surgery, such as partial stomach removal or stomach-bowel bypass surgery
  • More than one separate primary cancer present at the same time
  • Serious existing health conditions, including poorly controlled heart, lung, kidney, or liver disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, or mental health disorders
  • Emergency surgery is required due to a complication of the stomach cancer
  • Significant internal scarring from previous abdominal surgery that could affect the procedure
  • Removal of additional organs (beyond the stomach) is needed due to cancer spread or another condition
  • People who are unable to communicate, are pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant
  • Current participation in another clinical trial, or participation in one within the past 6 months
