Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a cancer in or near the pancreas, bile duct, ampulla, or duodenum, or a stomach cancer that has spread to block part of the digestive tract
- You are experiencing at least 2 of these symptoms: vomiting after eating, stomach pain, being unable to eat or drink, or scans showing a blockage in your digestive tract
- Your ability to eat is severely limited — either you cannot eat anything at all, or you can only manage liquids
- You are over 18 years old
- Your doctors expect you to live longer than 2 months, or a previous procedure to open the blockage with a stent did not work
- You are well enough to have surgery under general anesthesia
- Your cancer cannot be surgically removed or has spread to other parts of the body
Who may not be able to join:
- You are under 18 years old
- You are pregnant
- You have a blockage further down in your intestines, beyond a specific point called the Ligament of Treitz (confirm with trial site)
- You have other areas of narrowing or blockage elsewhere in your digestive tract
- You have previously had surgery on your stomach or the area around the pancreas
- You are unable to complete quality of life questionnaires
- You have a buildup of fluid in your abdomen (sometimes called ascites)
