Who might be able to join this trial:

  • The patient must be male and between 2 and 40 years of age (inclusive).
  • The patient must have genetic test results confirming a harmful change (mutation) in a gene called SLC6A8.
  • The patient must be able to complete the tasks and procedures required by the study, within the limits of their condition.
  • A parent, guardian, or caregiver must provide written permission (informed consent) for the patient to take part, and where appropriate, the patient themselves will also be asked to agree to participate.

Who may not be able to join:

  • Patients who have had a severe, prolonged seizure emergency (known as status epilepticus) within the 3 months before the screening visit.
  • Patients who have experienced a seizure lasting 5 minutes or longer, a second seizure without regaining consciousness after the first, or repeated seizures lasting 30 minutes or more.
  • Patients who are unable to follow the study procedures, or who have a medical condition or abnormal test results that the trial doctor believes could increase the risks of taking part.
