Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with remnant gastric cancer (cancer in the remaining part of the stomach after a previous surgery), where the cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body, based on pre-surgery assessments
- People whose scans and tests show no spread of cancer to distant organs, and no direct invasion into nearby organs such as the pancreas or spleen
- People who are in generally good physical condition, rated 0 or 1 on a standard activity scale (meaning fully active or able to carry out light activity)
- People assessed as being at a low to moderate level of health risk for surgery, based on a standard anaesthesia classification
- People who are willing and able to provide written consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who have a severe mental health condition
- People who have had previous surgery on the upper abdomen, except for keyhole gallbladder removal or stomach surgery
- People who have had any previous stomach surgery, including certain endoscopic procedures for stomach cancer
- People who are not willing to undergo keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery
- People who have a known allergy to iodine-based agents
- People whose pre-surgery imaging shows enlarged nearby lymph nodes larger than 3 cm
- People who have been diagnosed with another cancer in the past five years
- People who have previously received chemotherapy or radiation therapy before surgery for this condition
- People who have had unstable chest pain (angina) or a heart attack in the past six months
- People who have been taking corticosteroid medications continuously in the past month
- People who need surgery for another condition at the same time
- People requiring emergency surgery due to complications from gastric cancer, such as bleeding, blockage, or a perforation
- People whose lung function test results fall below 50% of the expected normal level
- People with a diffuse, widespread form of stomach cancer (confirm with trial site)
