Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who already have elevated ketone levels in the body (a blood ketone level above 2 mmol/L)
• People with serious conditions affecting the liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, digestive system, hormonal system, or immune system
• People who are malnourished or classified as obese
• People for whom a feeding tube through the nose and into the stomach cannot be used
• People with inherited conditions that affect how the body processes nutrients (inborn errors of metabolism)
• People with allergies or other medical reasons that would prevent the use of ketone ester supplements
• People who are currently receiving, or have received within the last 24 hours, a medication called propofol
• People who are taking medications known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (confirm with trial site for specific examples)
