Who might be able to join this trial:

• People between 18 and 60 years old
• People who have been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) according to a standard set of medical guidelines called the ROME IV criteria
• People whose IBS symptoms are rated as moderate or above, based on a specific IBS symptom scoring tool (a score above 175 on the IBS-Symptom Severity Scale)
• People who spend a lot of time sitting each day (more than 8 hours per day, based on a specific activity questionnaire)
• People who do less than 150 minutes of physical activity per week, based on a standard physical activity assessment

Who may not be able to join:

• People with a heart or lung condition that would make it unsafe to take part in an exercise program (as determined by a specific medical screening questionnaire)
• People where doctors suspect a bowel or digestive condition other than IBS — though participation may be possible if that other condition has been ruled out (confirm with trial site)
• People with a known inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
• People with a known condition affecting how the bowel moves food through the digestive system
• People who drink more than 14 units of alcohol per week, or who have issues with other substance use
• People with an active psychiatric (mental health) condition
• People with a known condition affecting the whole body's immune system that also affects the digestive system
• People who have had previous abdominal surgery — except for appendix removal or gallbladder removal, if that surgery was more than 6 months ago
• People who have ever been diagnosed with any type of cancer, except for a common and very localised form of skin cancer called basocellular carcinoma
• People currently receiving chemotherapy
• People who had a stomach or bowel infection (gastroenteritis) in the past 8 weeks
• People who have changed their diet in the past 8 weeks
• People taking dietary supplements, unless they have been taking the same dose for more than 8 weeks
• People who have taken antibiotics, prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, or any combination of these in the past 8 weeks
• People taking certain nerve-acting medications (called neuromodulators), unless they have been on a stable dose of one such medication for more than 12 weeks
• People who have taken certain bowel-related medications — including antispasmodics, opioids, loperamide, gelatine tannate, or mucoprotectants — in the past 8 weeks
