Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer (at a stage of cT3 or higher), confirmed through a tissue sample taken during a camera examination of the stomach, along with a CT scan and/or an internal ultrasound.
- People who have had both a CT scan with contrast dye and a keyhole surgical procedure (laparoscopy) to examine the inside of the abdomen.
- People whose CT scan does not show clear signs of cancer spreading to the lining of the abdomen — for example, no widespread nodules on the fatty tissue covering the organs, no large amounts of fluid in the abdomen, and no obvious irregular thickening of the abdominal lining.
- People whose CT scan shows no signs of the cancer spreading to distant parts of the body, and no features of stage IV cancer.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had surgery on their abdomen.
- People who have previously had cancer or an inflammatory disease affecting the abdomen.
- People where the CT scan and the laparoscopy procedure were done more than 2 weeks apart.
- People whose CT scan images have quality problems (such as blurring or distortion) that make it difficult to properly assess the abdominal lining for signs of cancer spread.
